March already, time flies so fast, as i already sit for my final SEM 3 exam. Overall, i’m suck. Don’t know what the reaction on my lecturer’s face when they read my answer paper. But that’s all my best and like what The Beatles said “Let it be!”
Whoa! Seems so kamikaze this time. With my previous experience sat for final exam, i think this is the worst. But, what make me felt bad, i have 3 weeks for my study weeks. So, the heck that i said this exam is the worst?
The concrete cement reason why i said so because i’m having dengue fever for my second week of study week. This disease ruin my study week, but i’m not saying this is the major reason i do worst in exam. It might contribute some or part of it.

I felt a bit cold at the evening. At night, i reaching for blanket. Want to cover my whole body but since my body temperature is damn high (about 38 degree Celcius) at that time, my mother not allowed it, cause by doing that, the heat will trap under your blanket and keep rising your body temperature. (My mum is retired midwife, she know how to handle patient well, don’t get jealous). I take Paracetamol that should lower my body temperature, but it doesn’t work that way. Body temperature still the same. My mum keep sponging me, to lower the body temperature. At this time, i felt dizzy, nausea, vomit a lot till nothing left in the tummy, my muscle ache, my joint pain, my eyes hard to open because i felt pain on my sclera.
I’m start guessing either malaria or dengue?

Went to clinic (non-gov), the doctor, she just taking the temperature and ask for urine test. Never want to check for blood pressure or auscultate my heart with her fancy hanging-to-chest Carribean blue Littman stethoscope. Just check la, not susah pun. I felt irritated with this kind of treatment i get from the doctor. Wonder how she past her Early Clinical Exposure class, or she don’t have to take that class? I’m just getting Paracetamol which i could buy from the pharmacy and overall plus her ‘consult’ charge, my mum had to pay RM40. Stay healthy pals, health cost expensive nowadays!

Decided to go to government clinic (Klinik Kesihatan Daerah) to check my blood since 4 days got fever. My heart strongly whispered to me that i might having Dengue. But my mind keep denial. As the blood test came out, yahoo! It’s negative antibody for dengue. But, doc ask the lab staff to run a second test, which she call NS1 test to check for any dengue antigen. Unfortunately, this one came out with a positive result. Yes, i’m having Dengue fever.
From my experience, when you having Dengue fever, management is more toward maintain your body fluid and platelet count. My first platelet count is 165 (normal is 250 and above). And this count went up-and-down and my last checked is 211, Alhamdulillah, Pheww. The lowest i reach is 110. Thanks God, my doctor, she’s very nice Punjab lady, very concern with my condition and very positive until i finally declared free from dengue. But there was one Malay doctor, she’s very negative, saying that i’m gonna die with my platelet result is 127 (Hello! There is people in ward with platelet count 1 still survive), she lowered my confidence and motivation, made me cried along the journey back to my home from clinic.
My best doctor is my mum. She’s working hard on my platelet, cooking crab soup @ sup Ketam for me, and force me to finish 3 liter mineral water everyday. Just to make sure i’m hydrated and that crab soup work, my platelet skyrocket from 110 to 145. Thanks ma!
I’ll never ever forget about dengue, my painful experience but after this, if i got my patient having dengue, i know how to deal with his emotion, because i have go through this.
P/s: wonder......what is going to be my result for SEM 3?
The only good positive result in medicine is positive pregnancy test and married |
